POSITION SUMMARY: The Coordinator is responsible for the planning and development, and the supervision of the program and camp directors during the camp(s) hours of operation. The Coordinator position will be assigned to support work at a school location. The Coordinator must meet all requirements to be on campus issued by federal, state, county and city government authorities.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Model the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through actions and conversation with staff, peers and members. * Offer Supervision to Camp Directors in developing programming, planning and overseeing daily activities, scheduling, lesson plans and general camp operations. * Work with special events, promotions, and any other special needs; take part in, and assist with, outside camp programs, promotions and training sessions. * Travel to any designated camp locations to ensure the success of camp activities. * Ensure all camp schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner; comply with the camp schedule, arriving to work daily on time and working as a flexible team player. * Provide work direction to the camp staff as needed and play an important role in the training and hiring of staff. Address staff concerns as necessary. * Interact effectively with the camp staff as a total system, with campers best interest in mind. * Know, understand, train and execute all camp policies and emergency procedures associated with the camp. * Coordinate safety and quality before and after care at all sites. * Communicate with parents and address parent concerns in a timely manner. Seek the support of the Program Director when necessary. * Assist with the various administrative tasks, coordinate schedules and complete all necessary reports; take inventory of and help purchase necessary supplies. * Assume the role of the Day Camp Director in his/her absence. * Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Regional Camp Director. * Facilitate check in and check out of campers and maintain those records each week of the summer. * Ensure compliance with American Camping Association (ACA ) standards and minimum program components * Support the annual campaign by building relationships, storytelling, and identifying prospects for donations and volunteering. * Daily supervision of day camp directors through: Site visitations, quality checks, and ensures logs and documentation are up-to-date. * Follow all YMCA policies for working with youth and vulnerable adults. * Complete required abuse prevention training. * Supervise high-risk activities responsibly and report any unsafe or inappropriate behavior. * Follow mandated reporting laws for suspected abuse. * Performs other duties as assigned.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation; * Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills; Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. * Ability to climb, push, and pull; * Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: * A commitment to the YMCA mission and its core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring as well as a commitment to building developmental assets in youth. Value diversity, youth, and have a broad vision of health and wellness that is enhanced by relationship building. * Certifications: CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention & Risk Management. * Completed YMCA training (or its equivalent from another organization) in staff development and other accepted camp management practices. * At least two prior seasons of administrative or supervisory experience in a day camp or similar setting. * At least three years prior experience working with school-age children * BA degree or appropriate professional certification is preferred. * Minimum 18 years of age. * Available on weekend and evenings as needed. * Will be required to travel locally to multiple work sites, should have car available for daily use, a valid California driver's license, and car insurance as required by the State of California   SALARY RANGE: $23.00-$25.00   YMCA COMPETENCIES: Collaboration: Creates sustainable relationships within the Y and with other organizations in service to the community.
