Responsibilities

The Teen Parenting Engagement Specialist is a non-exempt position responsible for engaging, recruiting, and managing cases of teen participants, their babies, and their families. The Teen Parenting Engagement Specialist works closely with participants to ensure successful outcomes for the family. Conducts regular in-home visits to provide an evidence-based parenting program (Nurturing Parenting) and education on child development utilizing the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ3).

  • In partnership with the case management team, recruit, train and support teen parents from Hillsborough County and Pinellas County schools, ages 14-19
  • Travel to participant homes to provide in-home services that include parenting, crisis stabilization, developmental assessments and assessing for child safety
  • Create individualized goals with participants to focus on education, self-sufficiency, safety and well-being
  • Ensure that all participating babies are connected with a health provider and attend prescribed medical appointments
  • Ensure that all teens are connected with an educational setting
  • Maintain all required documentation in participant files to include contacts between teen, case manager and mentor
  • Ensure that all requisite enrollment documentation is in order, including parents’ paperwork/consent
  • Refer clients to resources within the Hillsborough County
  • Assist management in preparing reports and providing documentation and data needed by the granting agencies
