Description The Akron Zoo is looking for a Teen Volunteer Program Assistant. Core responsibilities include working with the zoo’s teen volunteers each day ensuring all required activities are covered. Essential job functions: Creating monthly and daily schedules for the Jr Interpreters. Provide daily oversight of the Jr Interpreters ensuring daily schedule is followed. Using interpretive best practices, coach the Jr Interpreters on habitat chats and Discovery Cart presentations. Create new activities or topics for Discovery Carts Assist Career Pathways Manager with program & individual evaluations. Assist Career Pathways Manager with any ongoing projects. Requirements The candidate for this position should have a high school diploma with some college preferred in the areas of science or education. The individual should be comfortable working with teenagers and guiding them through daily activities. The Teen Volunteer Program Assistant should be a highly organized, outgoing, collaborative, strategic, independent, fun and creative self-starter who is able to multi-task and work independently within a busy work environment. Must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), strong relationship building skills, and exceptional customer service skills. This is a temporary part time position (25-28 hours a week) working 7-8 weeks during the Summer of 2026. The schedule for this role is: Wednesday-Saturday approximately 9:00am-4:00pm The Akron Zoo is a Drug-Free Workplace and an EOE.
