Context:
Support in delivery of the projects, leading and directing the overall engineering activities, ensuring timely completion of installation work, whilst maintaining the integrity and security of the equipment. Undertake liaison with Design, Testing staff and Contractors to ensure that all installation related issues are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Missions/Main Duties:

  • Ensure the overall activities of Telecom Team as directed by the Systems Project Manager, particularly ensuring high safety standards are adhered to by ensuring compliance with Rules and Regulations.
  • Liaise with Contractors, Designers and Testers to ensure that installation related issues are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure staff attitudes to personal safety and all requirements to the Health & Safety at Work regulations are paramount, especially aspects of the local Policy Statement for which the jobholder is directly responsible.
  • Implement systems of planning, reporting progress and inspection to ensure projects are implemented and completed to time, cost and quality as requested by Systems Project Manager.
  • Ensure that resources delivering telecommunication installation and construction activities comply with relevant Method statement, specifications and standards.
  • Ensure that testing and commissioning is carried out and recorded in accordance with correct and up to date drawings, plans, specifications and computer software and data.
  • Promote a zero accident / incident culture and environment.
  • Chair / Attend online and/or face to face meetings in English.

Profile/Skills:

  • Engineering Degree or Diploma in Communication Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of Professional Experience in Railway Telecom systems.
  • Experience of Telecom installation and construction activities.
  • International work experience in preferably working knowledge of Telecom including GSM-R and MSN.
  • Familiar with site change process.
  • Familiar with managing closure of snags, test logs.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Telecom Installation/Testing including:
  • Multi Service (Back-bone) Networks
  • IT Networks
  • Fibre Optic Cables
