    Responsibilities
    We are seeking a skilled Telecom RF Engineer with extensive experience in Wireless and Radio Frequency technologies to join our mission-critical telecommunications team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in digital mobile communication systems including two-way trunked radio systems, paging/messaging systems, DAS/BDA systems, and other RF infrastructure. This role is crucial to ensuring the reliability and performance of communication systems that support emergency response, healthcare, and essential business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, implement, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise telecom infrastructure including:
  • Trunked two-way radio systems (e.g., Motorola MOTOTRBO™)
  • Paging and messaging systems
  • Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) / Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) systems
  • Antenna systems, transmitters, couplers, filters, and RF cabling
  • End user devices (e.g. 2-way radios & pagers) and accessories
  • Perform system diagnostics and field work:
  • Diagnose, repair, install, and program RF equipment
  • Conduct RF testing using analyzers, wattmeters, and other equipment
  • Perform site surveys, signal testing, and field acceptance validation
  • Maintain and manage FCC licensing records and regulatory compliance
  • Understand and apply two-way radio theory, modulation principles, and RF propagation characteristics across VHF, UHF, and 800/900 MHz bands
  • Coordinate small to medium-sized projects:
  • Lead implementation efforts
  • Communicate project status and technical details to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal and external technicians and contractors
  • Assist in evaluating and deploying new telecom technologies
  • Participate in long-term telecom strategy, budgeting, and infrastructure planning
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support in a rotating schedule, responding to high-priority incidents
  • May represent the department in cross-functional planning groups and technical committees

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 2 years professional technical work experience, OR Associate’s degree with a minimum of 4 years professional technical work experience, OR A minimum of 6 years of professional technical work experience for individuals without a degree.

  • Strong knowledge of RF theory/technologies, telecom/network concepts, and the 7-layer OSI model
  • Experience with basic telecom/network management and monitoring tools
  • Understanding of desktop and server operating systems is desirable
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be capable of interacting with personnel at various levels, internal and external to the organization
  • Solid organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills using the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
