Description

RPB Industries Construction Group specializes in underground utility construction to a wide variety of clients across Western Canada. We offer Turnkey construction in the telecommunications industry. With offices in Spruce Grove, Calgary, and Lethbridge.

JOB DESCRIPTION - TELCOM DRAFTING SPECIALIST

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop base mapping, prepare permit drawings, construction drawings, and final as-built in electronic AutoCAD and PDF formats.
  • Operate Autodesk AutoCAD and MicroStation with a high level of competency.
  • Must be able to interpret redline/sketches from designers, surveyors, and construction field staff.
  • Import field data from GIS based systems into AutoCAD.
  • Contributes to and implements design modifications to improve quality of projects and process improvements.
  • Must be familiar with design and drafting standards used by shallow utilities.
  • Obtain permit approvals such as line assignments from municipalities, crossing and proximity agreements, parks and environmental approvals, etc.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and must have a clean driving record.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Drafting from an accredited institution, or the equivalent combination of Technical Training and/or Professional Experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in the shallow utility industry specializing in drafting.
  • Extensive knowledge in AutoCAD, AutoCAD civil 3D, MicroStation and Microsoft suite of products.
  • Experience reading and understanding construction plans with ability to comprehend design drawings from other utility companies.
  • Familiarity and experience with telecommunications and shallow utility standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with SpatialNet is ideal but not a prerequisite
  • Selected Candidate is required to obtain criminal background check and police clearance and driver’s abstract.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
