Role overview:

The Telecommunications Engineer provides technical expertise and execution support for topside telecommunications engineering, primarily focusing on FPSO, FLNG, and offshore facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring technical integrity across all project phases—from conceptual studies to EPCI—while contributing to the development of corporate standards and providing guidance to the wider engineering team.

 

Job Description:

  • Execute technical validation and QA for Feasibility, Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPCI phases, ensuring all outputs are practical, compliant, and cost-effective.
  • Develop core telecommunications architecture, design bases, calculations, and procurement packages (including layouts and material specifications).
  • Analyze complex technical issues to identify optimal solutions, communicating findings through detailed technical reports.
  • Manage technical interfaces with other engineering disciplines and communicate effectively with clients to clarify scope and design basis.
  • Develop and update corporate technical standards, workflows, and engineering data integration platforms.
  • Incorporate project "Lessons Learned" into corporate procedures to ensure they remain fit-for-purpose.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior or less-experienced engineers within the discipline.
  • Review vendor documents and supervise subcontractor deliverables to ensure design quality and schedule adherence.
  • Provide engineering expertise for construction, commissioning, and O&M teams, including troubleshooting and facility modification studies.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Telecommunications or a related Engineering field.
  • Minimum 10 years in the Offshore Oil & Gas industry, min, 5 consecutive years with a top-tier FPSO or EPC contractor.
  • Experience in at least one full FPSO EPCI project (from initial engineering to sail-away/delivery).
  • Hands-on experience in Topside Design Basis, Telecom Architecture, and Procurement Engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry codes, standards, and scientific problem-solving methods.
  • Comfortable to travel frequently to global locations including the US, Europe, and Asia.
