Telecommunications/Network Engineer (Level 3)

Permanent, Full Time

Onsite - Port Melbourne

$125,000 + Superannuation


Altitude is partnering with a growing Australian telecommunications company to find a Level 3 Telecommunications Engineer ready to take ownership of complex network challenges across fibre optic, broadband, and managed network infrastructure.


This role puts your advanced technical expertise at the centre of the business, driving diverse, high impact projects across residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors, and positions you as a key technical resource as the company continues to grow.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced Level 3 technical support, diagnosing and resolving escalated network faults across connectivity, latency, VLAN, and routing issues
  • Assist with GPON, XG-PON/XGS-PON, and active Ethernet deployments, including configuration and troubleshooting of OLTs, ONTs, and network switches
  • Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 infrastructure, including VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing, and IP addressing
  • Work closely with project managers, developers, and contractors, providing technical input during design, construction, and commissioning stages
  • Maintain accurate network configurations, diagrams, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with ACMA requirements and telecommunications standards.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in telecommunications or network engineering, preferably at Level 3 or equivalent
  • Strong experience with Telecommunications Carriers and Data centres
  • Practical experience with GPON, XG-PON/XGS-PON, and OLT/ONT technology
  • Strong understanding of IP networking and Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies, with experience configuring and troubleshooting switches and routers
  • Current Australian driver's licence and the ability to work independently on complex technical problems.
