COMMERCIAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS/STRUCTURED CABLING TECHNICIAN:

Flynn Communications, Alberta’s premier Telecommunications Contractor delivers network engineering, design and deployment services for telecommunications solution sets across multiple customer verticals including Carrier, Public Sector, Government, and Utilities. We are currently recruiting for an individual looking to grow with a fast paced and entrepreneurial organization.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Based in Edmonton, AB, the successful candidate will support and commission both wired and wireless network builds. He/she will be responsible to deliver end-to-end results that meet or exceed our targeted monthly commitments to our clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Strong skill and expertise will be required to be involved in all aspects of client telecommunications networks in varied environments and conditions. They will require a minimum of 1 year of technical experience in commissioning of network infrastructure.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUIREMENTS:

Reporting to our Project/Operations Manager, the Technician will need to possess a positive and passionate personality, as well as an ability to positively communicate with Customer’s and Staff. He or she will demonstrate an ability to listen and empathize with our customer’s needs and problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have experience in structured cabling installations.
  • Must own a vehicle to commute to work locally.
  • Basic understanding of networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry that include codes, standards, and regulations
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Fluent in English, with demonstrated professional oral and written communications skills: fluency in other languages would be a bonus
  • Must be able to travel to sites across Western Canada for up to 2 weeks at a time.
  • Ability to work various shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organization, prioritizing, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Display exceptional leadership and motivational skills.
  • Current working knowledge of the TIA/EIA standards of cabling.
  • Approved PPE, job tools(hand tools) required.
  • Fluke, Commscope Systemax, Belden, Corning, Panduit, certifications/training an asset.
  • Security, Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Access Control experience is an asset.
Responsibilities
  • To complete assigned projects to completion in an effective manner.
  • Installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical and structured cable components. (Cat 5E, Cat 6, Cat 6A, RF, Fiber Optic)
  • To complete tracking of hours and materials used to complete the assigned project.
  • Able to follow direction and take initiative.
  • Capable to read & interpret basic blue print drawings & work with Network Floor Plans.
  • Proficient in pulling, terminating, labelling, & testing of cable products.
  • Coordinate with other trades and clients to ensure a smooth installation.
