Description

We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technical Officer or Technologist to support the design, deployment, maintenance, and performance optimisation of telecommunications networks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fault diagnosis, network integration, and vendor coordination, ensuring the delivery of reliable and efficient telecommunication services across enterprise or infrastructure environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Associate Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent overseas qualification).
  • Alternatively, minimum 3 years of relevant work experience and/or recognised vendor certifications (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Nokia).
  • Strong understanding of RF systems, IP networking, signal processing, and telecom protocols.
  • Familiarity with network performance monitoring tools, testing instruments, and diagnostic software.
  • Practical experience with system integration, cabling, antenna alignment, and hardware replacement.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with vendors, internal teams, and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain microwave, satellite, telemetry, multiplexing, and other electromagnetic communication systems.
  • Perform technical diagnostics, fault isolation, and repairs on network and communications hardware and software.
  • Monitor and optimise network performance across layers, using tools and logs to identify bottlenecks or failures.
  • Provide technical support for network integration with desktops, servers, operating systems, and peripheral hardware.
  • Assist in the design and development of customer access infrastructure and upgrade plans.
  • Maintain detailed records and logs for inventory, maintenance schedules, site documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to fulfil technical requirements, ensure SLA adherence, and escalate unresolved issues.
  • Support the implementation of communication security protocols, backup plans, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, internal policies, and quality regulations during project execution.
  • Stay current with emerging telecom technologies, standards, and equipment relevant to the organisation’s network infrastructure.
