Telemetry Technician PRN (EKG) Reports To: Director of Intensive Care Unit Schedule PRN position 12-hour shifts (days or nights as needed; weekends and holidays may be required) Position Summary Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Telemetry Technician PRN performs continuous cardiac monitoring to support safe and effective patient care. This role is responsible for identifying rhythm changes, recognizing signs of patient distress, and promptly communicating findings to the clinical team. Education High school diploma or equivalent – Required Associate’s degree – Preferred Licensure EMT, EMT-P, CNA, SRNA, or CMA – Preferred OR completion of first semester clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing Degree Program (ADN or BSN) Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required Completion of Cardiac Telemetry Certification within 1 year of hire – Required Evidence of successful completion of Telemetry/Dysrhythmia course – Required Required Skills Strong critical thinking and sound clinical judgment Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Strong attention to detail Effective communication skills Essential Functions Performs continuous surveillance of multiple cardiac monitors Recognizes significant arrhythmias and signs of patient distress and takes appropriate action Identifies and corrects monitoring artifacts Reports abnormal telemetry findings and changes in patient physical, mental, or emotional condition to nursing staff promptly Ensures monitoring equipment is functioning properly Reports equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor Non-Essential Functions Performs other duties as assigned to support unit operations and patient care Why Join Us Be part of a collaborative ICU team focused on high-quality patient care Gain valuable cardiac monitoring experience in an acute care environment Flexible PRN scheduling to support work-life balance Opportunity to grow within a progressive healthcare system Work alongside experienced nurses and clinical leaders committed to excellence Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Highpoint Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
