UPMC Chautauqua is seeking dedicated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Telephone Operator. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for the public and hospital departments, playing a key part in both routine communications and emergency situations. We’re looking for candidates who are available to work all shifts—including days, evenings, and overnights, with rotating weekends and holidays, and this position will primarily serve PM shifts. Prior experience in medical settings and customer service is preferred, but most importantly, we value individuals who are reliable, compassionate, and eager to grow. In this role, there is the opportunity to- Provide service to multiple answering service clients utilizing individualized protocols. Process appropriate emergency code or STAT page. Initiate voice pages when required. Provide Physician on call information to requesting individuals. Use required phrasing at all times when answering telephone calls. Provide dialing instructions to patients when requested. Answer multiple lines while maintaining good customer service. Determine callers' requirements (extension desired, information requested, etc.) and transfer call. Provide status report on any page in progress to the individual requesting the page. Required: High school graduate or equivalent. One (1) year of experience answering and processing calls through automated phone system or one (1) year of customer service experience. Must be able to work all shifts, 7 days a week. Ability to interpret procedure manuals (i.e., fire, trouble, disaster, etc.). Preferred: Prior medical experience.
