Job Summary: The Telephonic Nurse is responsible for fielding and documenting telephone calls from patients/families, assessing the severity of the patient’s symptoms. The Telephonic Nurse will provide health education and procedural teaching to patients and significant others. The below is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job and is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of essential functions, responsibilities, or requirements. Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. May conduct regular engagement calls and welcome calls to patients and/or caregivers and physicians regarding assigned disease states. Follow up as needed. 2. Assess and educate new/existing patients on the use of products, administration devices, and therapy. 3. Follow approved FAQs provided by the client. 4. Support patients through education and setting of proper expectations of treatment and potential side effects. 5. Contact Physician’s office regarding questions, concerns, or problems. 6. Maintain accurate patient records; Document all calls to meet requirements of management, regulatory compliance, and program specific procedures. 7. Document and report adverse effects following approved SOPs. 8. Participate in program specific customer meetings and training sessions. 9. Participate in program specific orientation meetings and demonstrate clinical competency on written tests. 10. Work on special projects as required. 11. Educate patients about health maintenance. 12. Maintain accurate patient medical records. 13. Establish priorities and make ethically-sound decisions to ensure safe patient care. 14. Respond to emergency situations to promote optimal patient outcomes by assessing the health status of a patient’s disease state.  15. May need to collaborate/coordinate with other health care professionals, such as home health care, if needed. 16. Possess knowledge of unit level monitors and quality improvement findings. 17. May schedule prescription shipments. 18. Regular and reliable attendance expected. 19. Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required 1. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN, RN) with a valid Registered Nurse license in the home state. 2. Willing to obtain additional licenses in states required for Call Center Nurses. 3. Must have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with at least 2 years of other clinical experience for a total of 4 years of nursing experience. 4. Strong communication, analytical abilities, organization skills and general knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. 5. Efficient and accurate typing skills. 6. Attention to detail and committed follow through in communication with patients and providers. 7. Empathic listening skills to interact effectively with patients and providers. 8. Possess the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 9. Willingness to work in fast paced environment and can multi-task.
