Job Duties: The Data Modeler will work with enterprise data architect at Abbvie to reverse engineer data models within Snowflake, with a strong emphasis on reverse engineering existing data structures to understand and optimize data flows and document metadata, relationships, lineage for existing entities in the snowflake data model. Data Model Design & Development: Reverse engineer and document metadata against conceptual, logical, and physical data models for various data domains within the Snowflake environment, using the preselected tools from the Abbvie tech team. Collaborate with business stakeholders and data engineers to understand existing data structures in the complex snowflake data model designs. Reverse Engineering & Documentation: Reverse engineer existing data structures and schemas within source systems and Snowflake to understand data lineage and dependencies. Document existing data models, data flows, and data transformations for improved understanding and maintenance. Identify data quality issues and propose solutions based on reverse engineering insights. Leverage advanced Snowflake features for data modeling, including semi-structured data handling, time-travel, and zero-copy cloning. Optimize Snowflake queries and data models for efficient data retrieval and processing. Stay updated on Snowflake best practices and new features. Collaboration & Support: Work closely with data engineers, BI developers, and analysts to ensure data models meet reporting and analytical needs. Provide expertise and guidance on data modeling best practices to other teams. Contribute to data governance initiatives and data quality improvements. Minimum Skills Required: Proven experience in data modeling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data model design. Strong expertise in Snowflake data warehousing, including data loading, querying, and optimization. Demonstrated experience in reverse engineering data models and understanding complex data structures. Proficiency in SQL and data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, SqlDBM). Understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance principles. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
