ABOUT US

The Campus Recreation Complex (CRC) is a 300,659 sq. ft. facility located on Ferst Drive on the West side of campus. The complex is a unique expansion of the existing swimming and diving venue built for the 1996 Olympic Games. Campus Recreation provides a premier recreation fitness center, aquatic center, recreation fields, and leadership challenge course for the Georgia Tech community. We offer programming that includes Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness Instruction and Classes, and Outdoor Recreation.

JOB SUMMARY

This temporary position will serve as a key resource in promoting nutrition and wellness education for faculty, staff, and students. The position will also provide tailored guidance to the campus community seeking nutrition-related resources and work closely with several Campus Recreation programs and services. Supplies for programming needs are provided.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Up to two years of job related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor¿s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field (Master¿s preferred).
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in wellness or clinical nutrition.
    Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Masters in Public Health or related field
  • Experience working in the collegiate recreation setting/context.
  • Experience working in higher education or with diverse populations.
  • CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) or equivalent certification.
  • Familiarity with fitness, recreational or athletic programs.
  • Ability to design and implement performance-based nutrition strategies.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver nutrition plans and resources to enhance the fitness and wellness outcomes of the Georgia Tech community participating in campus recreation programs.
  • Partner with several Campus Recreation units to integrate nutritional education and support into existing Campus Recreation Programs.
  • Conduct individual consultations to assess nutritional needs, offer tailored recommendations to support unique dietary needs, and create action plans for faculty, staff, students, and other Campus Recreation members to help reach their physical wellness goals.
  • Develop and present nutrition education programs for current Campus Recreation programs and units using a variety of instructional methods and communications media.
  • Lead engaging food demonstrations in the test kitchen, showcasing better cooking techniques plus innovative and simple recipes to participants.
  • Develop and implement application-based solutions to assist participants with better cooking practices, dining out choices, and food substitutions.
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends and research in nutrition and wellness to ensure evidence-based practice and innovative service delivery.
  • Collaborate with other departments on campus to reach shared goals in nutrition and education for the campus community.
