SKILLS & EXPERIENCE – TEMPORARY KITCHEN JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or Kitchen Manager, ideally in an early years, school, care home, or similar catering setting
• A genuine commitment to providing healthy, delicious food for children
• Excellent food safety, hygiene and allergen awareness (Level 2 Food Hygiene or above preferred)
• Strong organisational abilities, with the capacity to work independently
• Positive, professional approach and great communication skills
• An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES FOR TEMP HEAD CHEF AT CHILDREN’S NURSERY

• Plan, prepare, and cook fresh, child-friendly meals and snacks in line with nursery menus and dietary requirements
• Ensure the highest standards of food hygiene and safety are met at all times
• Manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including ordering, stock control, and cleaning
• Work collaboratively with nursery staff to meet the children’s needs and support a positive mealtime experience
• Adhere to allergy management, nutrition policies, and statutory guidelines
