SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR HEAD CHEF JOBS IN SHREWSBURY

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Head Chef or relevant senior kitchen position within fresh food pubs or restaurants.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and Level 2 Allergen Awareness (as a minimum).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate colleagues.
  • Efficient, organized, and able to manage busy service periods with a calm approach.
  • Confident in managing orders, kitchen rotas, and all compliance procedures.
  • Immediate availability to start and reliable for the duration of the temporary assignment.
  • DBS check desirable, but not essential.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire the kitchen team to deliver consistent, quality dishes to guests.
  • Work directly with the General Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Create, prepare, and execute fresh, seasonal menus tailored to guest preferences.
  • Oversee all kitchen operations, including ordering, stock control, and rota management.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and allergen awareness at all times.
  • Manage all aspects of health and safety in the kitchen, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
  • Support team development and foster a positive, collaborative kitchen culture.
