Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN TEMPORARY HEAD CHEF JOBS – RUGBY CLUB, TOPSHAM

  • Take full responsibility for all kitchen operations, ensuring the smooth running of daily service.
  • Design, prepare, and deliver fresh, seasonal menus for players, members, and guests.
  • Lead, train, and motivate the kitchen team to deliver consistent, high standards of food and service.
  • Oversee stock control, ordering, and receipt of deliveries, maintaining budget and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety protocols at all times.
  • Maintain an organized and clean kitchen environment throughout each shift.
  • Communicate directly with club management to plan events, team catering, and any special requirements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR HEAD CHEF ROLES IN SPORTS CLUBS

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Head Chef or senior kitchen role within fresh food catering, pubs, or sports venues.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness qualification (required).
  • Proven leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and guide a team during busy periods.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management abilities.
  • Confidence managing ordering, planning menus, and coordinating kitchen rotas.
  • Experience in catering to a range of dietary requirements and group sizes.
  • DBS Check preferred but not essential for this role.
