Unifeye Vision Partners is currently hiring for a Temp Ophthalmic Technician, San Diego, CA

SUMMARY

The Temp Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for attending to patients in a timely and professional manner while providing a first-class customer service experience with all patients. The Ophthalmic Technician performs measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position may see patients for any Unifeye Vision Partners provider within their skill set.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of ophthalmology terms, conditions and clinical flow preferred.
  • Professional verbal communication skills, demonstrating ability to educate patients in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Typing, Computer and Data entry

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry setting.

Responsibilities
  • Greet all patients and guests with highest level of customer service and care and in accordance with company standards. Anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation. Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing yourself, and ensuring that the patient understands tests, procedures, and the process during the exam.
  • Complete all necessary workups including obtaining medical and surgical history, and the completion of all diagnostic testing.
  • Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline.
  • Assist doctors with sending new and refill prescriptions electronically to pharmacies.
  • Submit prior authorizations for prescriptions as needed.
  • Assist with retina injections set up and procedure.
  • Assist with patient pre- and post-op counseling, procedure set up, and performing in office procedures. Obtain consents when needed.
  • Calibrate diagnostic equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Instrument sterilization as needed.
  • Facilitates timely patient flow throughout the patient visit. Advises patients of possible wait time.
  • Ensure company COVID-19 protocols are followed.
  • This position is in-office and remote is not available.
  • Other duties as assigned
