Summary The mission of the Quality Engineer is to provide leadership to project and/or production teams to ensure delivery of quality products. In this capacity, the QE will be a member of a cross-functional team that includes the Manufacturing Engineer, Production Manager, Design Engineer and Team Leads in the continuous improvement of the Fabrication Dept. Position Duties Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to: * Work in a close, collaborative fashion with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering and Production management in the pursuit of common metric-based goals * Continuously audit department processes and procedures to ensure quality requirements are met or exceeded * Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities for disposition of non-conforming products * Lead cross-functional teams in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) efforts * Successfully lead improvement projects assigned using lean principles, six sigma methodology or other improvement tools * Establish and maintain process controls to reduce costs related to scrap and rework and improve first time yield * Develop inspection work instructions and quality control plans throughout manufacturing process and final lot acceptance * Lead product or process FMEAs during product and process development as needed * Implement and/or improve Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies to the appropriate level in support of continuous improvement efforts * Create or revise quality procedures to standardize work processes and to meet regulatory, AS9100, and customer requirements * Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate driver metrics in support of Organization metrics * Develop and deliver public presentations as appropriate for all levels within the organization * Foster and promote passion in advancing Lean, continuous improvement, and quality concepts * Perform Design of Experiment (DOE) for Root Cause Corrective Action and process optimization. Qualifications * BS degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering with hands-on Quality manufacturing experience preferably in the aerospace industry; Master’s degree (Mechanical/ Manufacturing/ Aerospace Engineering) preferred * Working knowledge of blueprint interpretation and GD&T in accordance with ANSI/Y-14.5 * Solid command in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, MiniTab * Proficiency in process control tools (SPC, Process Capability Analysis, audits, MSA, FMEA, etc) * Expert in root cause and corrective actions (RCCA) analysis tools such as 5 Whys and Fish Bone diagram, and systematized approach such as 8D, RCCA, 7 Step, CAR, etc. * Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9102, AS9100 standards, FAA regulations * Comfortable in making decisions in a rapid paced, forward evolving environment * Unquestionable commitment to, and ability to facilitate actions in, continuous improvement efforts * Ability to provide leadership, training to direct reporting personnel as required * Great communication skills especially with production personnel, Engineering personnel (Manufacturing, Design and Quality) and Management staff Physical Demands Employees in this position must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Responsibilities

The Quality Engineer provides leadership to cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of quality products through continuous improvement in the Fabrication Department. Key duties include auditing processes, leading MRB activities, and implementing SPC methodologies to reduce scrap and rework.
