Perks & Benefits Pay: £17.37 per hour Sunday 11th January 8am-2pm **Enhanced DBS Essential The Opportunity We are seeking a reliable and experienced Temp Sous Chef to join a busy care home kitchen in Worthing. Working on a temporary basis, you will support the Head Chef to deliver nutritious, appetizing meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and enhance their dining experience. This role is ideal for someone who is confident working in a care catering environment, knowledgeable about modified diets and food safety, and comfortable supervising kitchen staff during shifts. You will help maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and hygiene while supporting the team through service and preparation. Key Responsibilities Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and cooking meals for residents, including modified textures and special diets Supervise and support kitchen staff during service, ensuring smooth operation and clear communication Prepare fresh, nutritious food in line with menu plans, portion controls, and dietary requirements Ensure high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness across the kitchen (including HACCP/GMP practices) Manage stock rotation, deliveries, and basic ordering support to minimise waste and control costs Contribute to menu ideas and seasonal variations suitable for care home residents Cover Head Chef duties when required, maintaining standards and supporting the wider care team About the Kitchen Care-focused catering with emphasis on nutrition, presentation, and resident preferences Freshly prepared meals with attention to allergies and modified diets Well-organised service periods and collaborative team culture Busy environment with predictable service peaks at breakfast, lunch, and evening meal Person Specification Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Cook, ideally within care catering or contract settings Knowledge of modified diets, allergens, and textures for older adults Level2 Food Hygiene certificate or equivalent is desirable Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks Calm under pressure, reliable, and a positive team player Willingness to undergo DBS/other checks if required by the client Right to work in the UK and flexible availability for temporary assignments How to Apply If you are dependable, experienced, and committed to delivering high-quality meals in a care environment, please submit your CV and availability to our recruitment team.
