We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Holy Family Elementary School team. The HFES school acknowledges and respects, and are grateful for the opportunity to work, learn and play within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. We strive to strengthen the relationships and partnerships between home, school, students and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a focus on literacy development and a specialization in Elementary Education;
  • Recent experience in primary and intermediate literacy and numeracy support;
  • Course work and/or training in special education
  • Recent experience working with a multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate appropriate Individual Education Plans and Student Learning Plans.

NOTE: Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the education criteria listed above may be equally considered

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • Strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Capable of teaching a differentiated group of learners in an inclusive or pull out program as required;
  • Ability to coordinate and support paraprofessional staff in the implementation of Individual Education Plans, Student Learning Plans, and Behaviour and Safety Plans;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support working in a collaborative way with students, parents, administration, staff and consultants;
  • Willingness and ability to work as a member of a professional team and to promote, support, and work collaboratively with all staff on multiple school initiatives and the total school program, including a willingness to honour the principles of the School Growth Plan;
  • Keen interest and ability to contribute to overall school goals;
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally diverse student population.
  • Ability to teach elementary religion programs
