Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the FM&E Manager, under limited supervision, the Temperature Control Mechanic (TCM) performs a variety of skilled, complex maintenance and repair duties. This requires use of schematics, blueprints and specifications while using precedence and judgment in determining work methods used in accordance with accepted codes, standards, regulations and procedures. Most duties involve decisions on equipment operation, alteration, program modification/repairs, determination of cause of breakdowns and resolving emergency or urgent requests for service. The TCM operates specialized equipment including complex building maintenance systems, tests equipment and is responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in accordance with AHS standards and practices. This position will inspect and monitor all building mechanical systems and completes mechanical maintenance work to ensure proper equipment operation and reliability. Due to the diversity and extensive interdependence of the BMS and the HVAC systems, a wide range of training and experience is necessary to successfully carry out the duties of this position. Duties include system start up and testing for leaks using testing devices, repairing and replacing parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. This position will be required to work at other hospital sites including, but not limited to, Edmonton Zone (including rural). These sites include Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Sturgeon Community Hospital, Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, Strathcona Community Hospital, CASA, Northeast Community Health Centre, Leduc Community Hospital, Devon General Hospital, Westview Health Centre, Henwood Treatment Centre, Food Service Centre and Edmonton Central Production Facility. Possibility of rotating shifts including weekends.
