We have an opening for a full-time Temperature Calibration Technician in our Chelmsford, MA laboratory for the Calibration Lab. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized and collaborative. If you have a technical high school education or experience as a general-purpose electrical test tech using test equipment such as thermometers, ovens and temperature related equipment, we will train you to become a professional calibration technician. Requirements Primary responsibilities: Calibrate a wide range of temperature devices that include: thermometers, data loggers, thermo-couple probes, RTD’s, PRT’s, Thermistors and IR. Calibrate a wide range of RH devices that include: probes, meters, loggers and sensor devices. Demonstrate knowledge of the creation of temperature coefficients, temperature simulation methods and the characteristics of various temperature sensors. Provide monthly checks on internal Essco temperature and RH standards. Understanding of primary temperature and humidity that includes fixed point calibrations. Ensure calibrations are performed in accordance with written procedures and/or approved industry standards. Ensure that all work is performed with our mission statement of: quality, capability and timeliness. Ensure compliance with the Essco Quality System. Complete each assigned job on time and ensure customer satisfaction. Document and evaluate the results of calibrations performed. Work with lab manager and team leaders to meet turn-around commitments. Skills, Education, Experience: AS/BS degree (preferred). Three years’ experience as an on-bench technician (preferred). PMEL training or equivalent formal technical training (preferred) Familiar with the requirements of ISO17025, ISO 9001 and ANSI/NCSL Z-540 Computer literate and ability to use enterprise lab management software, MS excel. Strong verbal communication and listening skills. Excellent math skills. Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit and talk or hear. Required to walk, lift small objects up to 50lbs. Maintain a safety awareness to extreme temperature sources. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. Reach with arms and hands. Vision abilities require close vision, focusing eyes on a nearby object for prolonged periods of time. Work Environment: Professional lab environment. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pressurized cylinders, chemicals and high voltage power. Routinely use office equipment including computers, copiers, and phones. Noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
Responsibilities
The Temperature Calibration Technician will calibrate a variety of temperature and humidity devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal procedures. They will also document calibration results and work with the lab manager to meet turnaround commitments.
