School District 72 operates throughout a large geographic area. Campbell River and Quadra Island schools and our school board office are located on the traditional territory of the Liǧʷiɫdaxʷ people. School District 72 also encompasses the traditional territory of the Klahoose (Cortes), K’ómoks (Sayward), and χʷɛmaɬkʷu (Bute Inlet) First Nations.

School District 72 is looking for a temporary 1.0 FTE French Immersion Kindergarten teacher to join our team of educators at École Willow Point Elementary who strive to bring the district’s learning beliefs to life.
School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The district serves over 5,600 students in 18 schools with a diverse range of programs that are progressive and responsive to the educational needs and interests of students.

The successful candidate for this position must have:

  • Fluency in French.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching French language and a clear knowledge of the culture.
  • Strong knowledge of Immersion and its pedagogy.
  • Sound knowledge of effective literacy instruction strategies.
  • Successful experience teaching at the Primary/Intermediate elementary levels, preferably combined with post-secondary training in teaching French Immersion.
  • Ability to plan for diversity by using differentiation in accordance with current inclusive educational practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound “assessment for learning” practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • A good understanding of computer assisted learning and computer technology.
  • Ability to demonstrate how current practices align with SD72 beliefs.

The starting full-time salary for this teaching position ranges from $60,015 and $109,520. Placement on a salary scale is subject to verification of experience and certification and will be done in accordance with the current collective agreement.
