DESCRIPTION OF JOB

This position is located in the Division of Racing, Bally’s Arapahoe Park and off-track facility located at 26000 E. Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO, 80016 and will also be required to work as needed at the Division’s Lakewood Office located at 1707 Cole Blvd., Suite 300 Lakewood, CO 80401, this position is responsible for the following duties.

Job duties:

  • Assist in conducting investigations and enforces Colorado State laws and the rules of the Colorado Division of Racing Events. Work with Racing Investigator and various State and local law enforcement agencies as required.
  • Provide technical Assistance which includes giving expert testimony and presenting evidence to the administrative Board of Stewards when requested.
  • Enforce Colorado Racing Commission policy and procedures with association security staff and racing officials related to proper health documents and incident reporting.
  • Assist in background investigations and eligibility requirements of all racing license applicant.
  • Perform daily stable gate checks and weekly stable inspections of all licensed trainers for compliance with Colorado Racing Commission rules.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:
Five (5) years of relevant experience in criminal or compliance investigative experience in a regulatory environment.
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in accounting, anthropology, business administration, criminology, criminal justice, criminalistics, economics, environmental health, finance, law, law enforcement, political science, police science, psychology, public administration, public health, sociology, or a closely related field as determined by the Department.an occupation related to the work assigned equal to five (5) years.

Special Qualifications:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (at the time of application).
  • Must be 21 years of age or older for this position.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Candidate may be required to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen.
  • Travel is required as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Preferred applicants will possess more than the required minimum experience in professional investigative and/or compliance experience in a regulatory environment.
  • Outstanding candidates will have recent experience with: investigations involving compliance reporting or criminal activities, interview techniques, interpreting and applying statutes.
  • Experience conducting due diligence investigations in a regulatory environment on companies and/or people to determine suitability for licensure.
  • Experience interpreting and applying statutes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite/Google suites.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
