Position Summary
The Temporary Benefits and Leaves Specialist works closely with Human Resources and department leaders to administer the company’s leaves and total rewards programs to remain competitive and increase employee retention. This position will be a subject matter expert to ensure accurate benefit enrollments and leave statuses within the HR system.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

  • Process benefits adds/changes/terms in the HRIS associated with Mom’s Meals suite of benefit offerings
  • Assist employees in understanding the organization’s benefits offerings and act as a liaison between the organization and third-party benefits providers
  • Assist employees in understanding their paycheck and resolving matters brought to our attention with benefit deductions
  • Advise on eligibility, costs, and coverages for new employees
  • Provide guidance during claims or enrollment new hire processes
  • Maintain records related to benefits plan participation or contributions
  • Assist with the company 401(k) plan to ensure regulatory filings and employee communications are timely filed or sent
  • Administer the company’s leave programs including maternity leave, short-term disability, and long-term disability, military leave or unpaid leave
  • Administer FMLA and the interaction with all other types of leaves of absence
  • Review specific leave claims or requests with the Leave of Absence vendor, assist in determining employee eligibility, assist managers in developing alternate work arrangements and manage the employee’s return to work or separation from the company
  • Communicate with team members to provide guidance and direction on specific leave policies
  • Work with the leave vendor and payroll department to ensure employees are placed on and returned from leave status in a timely manner
  • Record the leave and make necessary adjustments in time or pay in the HRIS system
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies, procedures and regulations
  • Serve as point of contact for work-related injury or illness reporting and assist employees in filing workers’ compensation claims
  • Coordinate with the company’s workers’ compensation carrier and third-party administrators to ensure claims are processed accurately and timely
  • Support managers and employees in understanding work comp procedures, return-to-work policies, and modified duty options
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all work comp claims, restrictions, and accommodations
  • Partner with payroll to confirm appropriate wage replacement benefits are applied during workers’ compensation leaves
  • Monitor open claims and provide updates to leadership regarding status, compliance, and potential risk
