Purpose Statement:
The job of Administrative Assistant II is done for the purpose/s of providing secretarial support to school-site principal and other administrators; conveying information regarding school functions and procedures; ensuring compliance with site’s financial, legal and administrative requirements; and overseeing the office activities in support of the services provided to students, parents, instructional and support employees.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operatingstandard office equipment; performing accounting procedures; performing standard bookkeeping; planning and managing
projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and using pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: general accounting/bookkeeping principles; business telephone etiquette; computer and internet operations; concepts of grammar and punctuation; federal, state and local policies, procedures and practices; equipment and materials utilized in an office environment; school operations and their functions
ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; working with constant interruptions; and working effectively with students, staff and community.
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and monitoring budget expenditures. The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed under some hazardous conditions.
