Temporary Community Events Coordinator (Maternity Coverage- 12 months) Reporting to the Manager of Recreation Programs and Special Events, the Community Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting Town-led events, including the design/development, delivery, coordination, supervision, administration, implementation, and evaluation of Town events. This position will liaise with the Committee of Councils and community stakeholders and assist in sponsorship development. Responsibilities: Support the planning, development, and execution of Town-led events, including the Easter Egg Hunt, Kingsville Block Party, and committee-supported activities, such as Migration Festival, Fantasy of Lights, and Pollinate Kingsville events. Source, select, and coordinate event vendors, entertainers, and operational services while managing contracts, logistics, budgets, and relationships to ensure successful event delivery. Develop and implement strategies to recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers aligned with organizational needs and values. Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers by creating and managing schedules, ensuring adequate event coverage, and providing ongoing support, guidance, and recognition. Ensure compliance with Town policies, procedures, and relevant legislation. Facilitate sponsorship and sales opportunities to enhance community engagement and event funding. Evaluate event performance and implement continuous improvements to enhance attendee experience and operational efficiency. Update and maintain event webpages through GovStack and collaborate with the Manager and Communications Coordinator to support event marketing and promotion. Respond to emergencies and public inquiries while delivering high-quality customer service. Support recreation programs and front desk customer service as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications College diploma in event management, business, recreation, administration or marketing/promotions. Experience in a Municipal environment would be considered an asset. Working knowledge of event industry trends and community assets. Two to four years of event and/or marketing experience. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Beneficial skills include problem solving, time management, stakeholder relations, and political acuity. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Canva and adaptability to new technologies. Capacity to work under pressure, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Hold a valid “G” licence First Aid Training, Smart Serve Training, and Food Handler’s Certification is considered an asset. Working Conditions Most of the work is performed in standard office conditions; during events the work is completed in outdoor environments with the potential exposure to adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift and move items for set-up and take-down up to 50 pounds (display tents, decorations, sound systems, etc.) Able to undertake a flexible working hours, including many weekends, evenings, and an expectation of being on call consistently during certain events. Wage Rate $70,828-$88,535 (Salary Band 4) This posting is for an existing vacancy.
