JOB SUMMARY

The College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) encourages applications for the Temporary Engineering ProReady Career Advisor! This position is responsible for career advising and support, engaging students in career programs, and developing meaningful connections with CEAS students, faculty, and staff.
This position provides engineering-specific career advising to CEAS students, including career and major exploration, professional development planning (including internships, full-time jobs, and graduate/professional school), and developing critical career skills (resumes/portfolios, cover letters, job search strategy, interview preparation, etc.).
The Engineering ProReady Career Advisor position is rostered in CEAS and reports to the Assistant Director of Engineering ProReady Career Advising. The Engineering ProReady Career Advisor is an active contributor on the Engineering ProReady team and works to support the Engineering ProReady Initiative, the career and professional development initiative in CEAS. This position requires candidates to possess excellent career advising, critical thinking, project management, partner engagement, and creative thinking.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

The Temporary Engineering ProReady Career Advisor position is a 100% role (40 hours per week), 9-month temporary position starting in August 2025 and runs through Fall and Spring semesters. The position work in a hybrid modality as determined by the Assistant Director of Engineering ProReady Career Advising and may have occasional evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

Career Advising and Engagement:

  • Provide Engineering ProReady career advising for CEAS students through scheduled appointments, drop-in sessions, and group advising sessions in an in-person and virtual environment.
  • Track and report student appointment notes and event participation data in alignment with Engineering ProReady Career Advising, the Engineering ProReady initiative, and campus Career Services procedures.
  • Track data on student engagement, maintain contact logs, and notes from career advising appointments.
  • Manage technology and platforms related to area of responsibility.
  • Serve as a point of contact for Engineering ProReady Career Advising, attend meetings with key partners, participate in relevant committees and projects, advocate for and represent Engineering Career Services, train key collaborators, share relevant information, and collaborate on partnered events.
  • Develop professional skills and knowledge, stay current with relevant trends and the best processes in career advising (both general and CEAS-specific), and participate in local and national professional development.

CEAS Faculty & Staff Engagement:

  • Develop and deliver career and professional development content for engaging CEAS classroom presentations, including introductory and capstone courses.
  • Develop strategic relationships with CEAS faculty, staff, and academic advisors to deliver on key Engineering ProReady career advising outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering ProReady Employer Relations team to gain familiarity with employer recruitment practices in the engineering and applied science sector.

Additional Duties:

  • Attend Engineering ProReady, CEAS, or related meetings at the direction of the CEAS Sr. Director of Career & Professional Development or the Assistant Director of Engineering ProReady Career Advising.
  • Given the changing nature of work and the Engineering ProReady team commitment to be adaptable and innovative as the nature of our work and students’ needs change, staff will assume duties as assigned by the CEAS Sr. Director of Student Professional Development or the Assistant Director of Engineering ProReady Career Advising.
