DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM/UNIT SUMMARY:

The In-Patient Medicine Program at THP consists of a total of more than 350 beds across the CVH & MH and is staffed by large interprofessional teams who support the care of complex medicine patients within the Mississauga-Halton LHIN. Our in-patient units offer first-rate care in an innovative environment supporting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients. POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to a Clinical Manager, the ideal candidate will be focused on providing excellent patient centered care in a dynamic environment where he/she will be given the opportunity to deliver care with compassion, excellence and courage.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Provision of nursing care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education
• Teaching and coaching to patients and families
• Commitment to a healthy, safe and respectful workplace
• Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policies and procedures; professional regulatory standards; and best practices within the nursing profession
• Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development (including annual training/education as indicated)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred
• Minimum of two years acute care medical/surgical experience
• Completion of a physical assessment course
• Experience working with acute care medicine patient populations, including respirology, nephrology, cardiology patients requiring telemetry monitoring and geriatric patients
• Experience in providing and delivering patients and families with educational teaching
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem solving skills
• Demonstrates patient and family-centred care values
• Evidence of on-going professional development
• Experience and knowledge with EPIC application system
