QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited University Program with a Baccalaureate Degree (Honours) or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Current membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and/or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists preferred
- intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- Minimum five years, current related experience working with seniors with mental illness and addictions in an
- outpatient, inpatient and/or residential environment preferred
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and skills in working with various types of dementia, delirium, mental health
- issues, addictions, other neurological conditions, and with people who experience an acute behaviour change that
- can best be served by a behavioural support system preferred
- Previous research experience related to geriatric mental health and addictions preferred
- Advanced individual/group psychotherapy knowledge and experience as it relates to the geriatric population preferred
- Certification in Gentle Persuasion Approach, PIECES and Montessori preferred
- Skilled at crisis intervention and assessment preferred
- Experience in the application of CBT preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with community partners and as part of a interprofessional team
- High level of initiative, superior communication (verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills
- Strongly developed spirit of inquiry and interest in furthering evidence-based practice
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Vision, Purpose, and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
