We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences: Major Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator, Dr. Maggie Kwok, in ongoing research projects with a focus on digital health for building AI chatbots or precision medicine for implementing machine learning for personalized care. The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following: Designing, coding, testing, deploying conversational AI chatbots from inception to deployment; Utilizing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector databases to deliver personalized health communications; Implementing safety guardrails and evaluation metrics to mitigate AI hallucinations and ensure reliable health information; Developing, training, optimizing, and validating machine and deep learning algorithms for personalized care; Processing, cleaning, and managing large-scale health datasets with data security; Writing codes for web programming, artificial intelligence applications, machine or deep learning algorithms, and utilizing secure backend APIs to connect trained models with chatbot user interfaces; and Performing administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. Candidates Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence: a Master’s degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, health informatics or related disciplines; High proficiency in programming languages (e.g., R, Python and Cursor) is required; Prior experience in health-related research, preferably in artificial intelligence or pharmacology, is an advantage; Deep familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and Large Language Model (LLM) frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex) for conversational AI and predictive modeling application development and deployment; Practical knowledge of web programming (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, FastAPI) to deploy applications Good command of written and spoken English; Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently; Good communication and interpersonal skills; and Effective in multi-tasking and time management.
