For more information about the University, please visit https://www.hkmu.edu.hk We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences: Major Duties and Responsibilities The appointee shall mainly assist the research team in a research project “Echoes of the Past: Reconstructing Vanished Soundscapes in Hong Kong through Archaeoacoustics” (R6675). The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following: Supporting the team in conducting literature reviews related to sound studies, music archaeology, and immersive audio research; Collecting and organizing data, including field recordings, archival materials, and audio documentation for analysis; Assisting the Principal Investigator/supervisors in the preparation, coordination, and execution of research studies and artistic experiments; Participating in the design, implementation, and documentation of sound-based research and artistic outputs; Assisting in the planning and organization of related workshops, symposia, and performances; Preparing materials for publications, exhibitions, and other research outcome deliverables; and Undertaking other ad-hoc research and administrative activities as instructed by the Principal Investigator. Candidates Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence: A Master’s degree or above in music, sound art, creative media any related discipline (for Temporary Research Assistant I); A Bachelor’s degree in music technology, sound design, media art, or related discipline (for Temporary Research Assistant II); Strong ability and knowledge in music composition, sound design, spatial audio, or audio programming; Preferred understanding of acoustic ecology, sound archaeology, and art-technology integration; Candidates who have the intention to pursue a research postgraduate degree are preferred; Proven record in academic paper publication or presentation at conferences and/or journals in the field of music, sound, or media art; Experience in digital audio workstations (e.g. Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Reaper, Max/MSP) or sound analysis tools; Experience with web-based or interactive media tools (e.g. TouchDesigner, Unity, HTML/JavaScript) is an advantage; Strong organisational and planning skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, document editing, etc.); Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently under tight deadlines; Professional communication skills for handling correspondence, coordination, and documentation; and Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. ​​​​​​​ Terms and Conditions for Appointment Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary full-time contract.
