A research project entitled “Developing Ethnic Minority-based Tourism: A Networked Social Capital Perspective of the Thai Community in Hong Kong” aims to explore the role of community-based tourism among ethnic minority groups in fostering social inclusion within an international metropolitan city. The project employs a qualitative ethnographic approach to investigate the lived experiences of the Thai community in Hong Kong, reflecting on their unique social interactions, negotiations, and tensions among diverse stakeholders within the tourism context. We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration: Major Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following: Conducting community fieldwork and recording observatory notes; Recruiting and building rapport with research participants and stakeholders; Coordinating and conducting in-depth interviews; Performing data organisation, transcription, coding, and analysis; Reporting and discussing research progress on a weekly basis; and Providing administrative assistance to the Principal Investigator. Candidates Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence: A bachelor’s degree, preferably a higher degree, in tourism management, sociology and anthropology, social work, cultural studies, or a related discipline; A minimum of 1 year of community work or research experience; Professional command of spoken and written English and Thai; and Detail-oriented, hardworking, organized, responsible, self-motivated, and able to meet tight deadlines and work independently. Applicants with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as a Technical Assistant. Responsibilities
