Description JOB TITLE: Younger Youth Workshop Facilitator – SYEP JOB TYPE: Full-time, Temporary DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Summer Youth Employment Program- Sunset Park High School EXEMPTION: Non-exempt REPORTS TO: Program Director SUPERVISORY ROLE: No SALARY/HOURLY RATE: $18-20 per hour WEEKLY HOURS: 35 hours This is a Temporary Full-Time position expected to end within August 2026 [date to be determined]. WHO WE ARE Center for Family Life in Sunset Park (CFL) (https://centerforfamilylife.org), is a nationally recognized social service organization. CFL's mission is to promote positive outcomes for children and adults in Sunset Park, Brooklyn by providing a comprehensive range of neighborhood-based family and social services. I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to Attend a week-long training in late June to prepare for Younger Youth (YY, ages 14-15) summer workshop facilitation Partner with CFL-SYEP staff to co-facilitate two different YY groups and assist in the group’s development of a service-oriented project, utilizing a project-based learning practice model Travel with your participants to field trips across NYC over the summer Complete light administrative duties (e.g. recording workshop attendance, assisting administrative team with participant timesheets, preparing workshop supplies, etc.) Attend weekly professional development meetings and contribute to workshop curriculum development Perform office duties as necessary II. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma is REQUIRED. Some college experience in Human Services, Youth Development, Social Work, and/or Social Justice preferred. Previous youth work experience with adolescents, teens, and/or young adults on leadership development, service-learning, and/or college exploration Able to always present themselves professionally and demonstrate appropriate boundaries with teens, families, and coworkers Enjoys working in a friendly, exciting, and fast-paced environment Flexible and works well as part of a diverse team Comfortable supporting youth participants with a range of needs, including those with special needs or challenging behaviors. Highly dependable Bilingual: English/Mandarin/Cantonese or English/Spanish, preferred III. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS Must enjoy working with high school students, working in groups, collaborating with others, and being part of a community Build and maintain close, daily interactions with participants, coworkers, and supervisors Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization Possess a strong belief in young people’s ability to grow and change Has a flexible personality, ready to switch tasks when asked IV. WORKING CONDITIONS All workshop facilitators will be working onsite at Sunset Park High School in classrooms Actively engage and interact with participants each day May be required to be active by walking, bending, standing, squatting or sitting on the floor with participants Demonstrated ability to maintain a high energy level May be exposed to all weather conditions and might be required to work in various temperatures to facilitate activities in various locations inside and outside of the school building (e.g. field trips will happen rain or shine, etc.) Mandatory uniform shirt (e.g. shirt will be provided) V. BENEFITS NYS Safe and Sick Time WORK SCHEDULE Summer [July through August] 9 AM- 5 PM Monday through Friday Work schedule to be further discussed with supervisor upon hire; hours are not flexible. Responsibilities
