Position Summary The Temporary Litigation Paralegal – Water Court, Healthy Rivers Program, will provide a full range of administrative and legal support for water court trial proceedings and relevant trial preparation. The Litigation Paralegal – Water Court will report to the Colorado Senior Staff Attorney. Under the supervision of the Colorado Senior Staff Attorney, the Litigation Paralegal – Water Court will be responsible for case management and planning, discovery management, legal research and writing, trial preparation and support during trial, court and calendar management, and communication with the court and other parties. Location This position may work in WRA’s Denver office or in a hybrid remote and in-office setting. Remote work must be within Colorado. Office attendance is only required when necessary.  RESPONSIBILITIES CASE MANAGEMENT * Organize and maintain electronic and physical records (most records are electronic). * Maintain case files and organize evidence, including expert reports and court filings. DISCOVERY MANAGEMENT * Handle high-volume document requests and manage electronically stored information.  * Prepare interrogatories and organize expert and witness statements.  * Utilize WRA’s document management platforms, including Asana, to streamline discovery management. LEGAL RESEARCH AND WRITING  * Draft pleadings, subpoenas, motions and discovery, finalize documents for filing with agencies and/or courts, and file documents and serve on parties; other paralegal support as needed. * Research laws, regulations, and court decisions. TRIAL PREPARATION * Create trial binders, organize exhibits, manage logistics, and coordinate with expert witnesses. COURT AND CALENDAR MANAGEMENT  * Track case deadlines, update trial calendar on WRA’s platforms and maintain case log.  * File documents with the court.  * Manage communication with court personnel and opposing counsel.  ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES  * Schedule video and (occasional) in-person meetings for staff and external parties; make arrangements for in-person meetings (venue, food, communications, etc.); take meeting notes as needed. * Make or assist in travel arrangements for staff. * As needed, assist with preparation and editing of reports and presentations and with legal and subject matter research. Qualifications & Competencies Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position, will be considered. For example, the requisite experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities would include: * At least ten years of litigation paralegal experience, including direct trial experience. * Strong organizational skills with ability to manage a deadline-driven docket of regulatory litigation. * Thorough and detail oriented, with good time management skills. * Strong communication, writing and editing skills. * Proficiency with computers and general office equipment; mastery of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. * Commitment to WRA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals. WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation including:  * A typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues. • Prolonged periods of time at a desk and working on a computer. * Position requires some travel by automobile, airplane, etc.  TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel required for water court trial proceeds, depositions, and other external and internal meetings within Colorado.  Compensation This is a temporary position with an anticipated start date of April 20, 2026, and an anticipated termination date of June 12, 2026. The hourly rate for this role is $44.55 per hour. This is a part-time temporary position with an expectation to work 20 hours a week from April 20 – May 29, 2026, and 45 hours a week from June 1 – June 12, 2026. Since this is a temporary position, this role is not eligible for any benefits, including, but not limited to: vacation leave; health, vision, and dental insurance; life, short-and long-term disability insurance; and the 401(k)-retirement plan.
