We’re looking for reliable and hardworking people with experience in traffic control to join our team as Temporary Workplace Signers (TWS). In this exciting role, you would be responsible for overseeing a team of Traffic Control Person(s) (TCPs) and working with a foreman/superintendent to establish a safe workplace for construction job sites around Halifax/Dartmouth and surrounding HRM areas.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Must be able to interpret both written and verbal instructions.
  • Great communication skills and willing to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Must be able to show leadership and good decision-making abilities.
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions, often working long days.
  • Comfortable working near vehicle traffic and heavy equipment.
  • Required ability to lift up to 30 lbs and standing for long periods of time.
  • Valid TCP Certification.
  • Valid TWS Certification.
  • Valid Class 5 License an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Set-up safe work zones using traffic cones, barrels and barricades.
  • Plan detailed traffic control solutions based on customer needs and safe work practices.
  • Responsible for the safe passage of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists through work areas.
  • Monitor the safe work zones and correct compliance and personnel issues as they arise.
  • Communicate any incidents or hazards to the Site Supervisor.
  • Complete required administration and safety paperwork.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in accordance with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow instructions given by Site Foreman, Site Supervisor, and Management.
