ABOUT YOU

  • Experience in tenancy support, housing services, community services, or related field.
  • Knowledge of the SA housing sector, tenancy, and housing legal rights/responsibilities.
  • Ability to engage with people from diverse background and interact effectively sensitively with target cohorts, landlords and other service providers.
  • Experience in engaging and working with people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Time management and organisation skills, able to work both independently and an effective team member, to plan and achieve outcomes and to successfully meet deadlines and KPIs.

Responsibilities

As a Tenancy Advisor, you will play a key role in providing expert advice and support to tenants, ensuring they understand their tenancy rights and responsibilities and achieve their goal of sustaining their tenancy.
We are seeking a proactive and compassionate individual to join our Rent Right SA team based at our Kent Town Head office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with individuals and families renting in public, community, or private sector to prevent tenancy breakdown and homelessness.
  • Provide support, information, coaching, and advocacy to help clients understand their rights and responsibilities under their tenancy agreements.
  • Conduct targeted financial, tenancy and risk/vulnerability assessments of clients to establish their housing needs and goals.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness and understanding of the role and scope of SYC’s Tenancy Services and its target cohorts.
  • Assist clients to advocate with relevant services, utility providers, housing providers and Government departments, to access services and supports.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED TO:

  • Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • Be willing to work on a rotating roster between the span of 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.
  • Have possession of a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive.
