Description

The Tennis Shop Assistant performs work consisting of opening and closing the Tennis Shop, making bank deposits, selling merchandise, greeting guests, answering telephones, reserving courts and tennis lesson times, collecting fees, general cleaning and tidying area in the Tennis Shop, courts and grounds. Acts as general salesclerk. Ensures player's racquets are strung competently. Performs utility work on the tennis courts and grounds. This position reports to the Director of Racquet sports and may take direction from the Head Tennis Professional. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: * Sells, sizes and restocks merchandise. * Answers telephones and greets guests, customers, members, and visitors in a courteous and polite manner. * Provides guests and visitors with premium level customer service, courtesy, and enthusiasm expected from a world-class resort in accordance with the Company’s Customer Service handbook. * Reserves court and lesson times; collects fees for courts, racquet rentals, lessons and general merchandise. * Inform guests of Tennis Club rules and regulations and assists in enforcing these regulations whenever possible. * Performs general cleaning duties in the Tennis Pro Shop which includes polishing, dusting, glass cleaning, and vacuuming. * Ensures guests' and members' racquets are strung competently and racquet rentals are strung and ready in a timely manner. * Performs opening and closing functions of the Tennis Pro Shop operation (security alarm systems, locking and securing doors to building, etc.) as required. * Observes all house rules and regulations, including, but not limited to safety regulations, following safe practices in the performance of duties/assigned tasks and practices good housekeeping in designated work areas. Other Duties/Responsibilities: * Roll-dries wet tennis courts; cleans tables and chairs surrounding the Pro Shop as well as nearby court areas. Thoroughly washes and maintains the tennis courts, windscreens, and water coolers, and retaining wall on as needed basis. * Empty refuse containers on tennis courts and around Pro Shop. * Assist in keeping restrooms clean with periodic checks and replenishing toilet tissue, paper towels, etc. as needed. * Clean and maintain the golf cart. * Other duties as assigned by the Head Tennis Professional and/or Director of Racquet Sports. Qualifications/Skills: * Good to excellent communication and public contact skills. * Good verbal and written communication skills. * Previous experience in customer services. * Some retail sales background desired. * Knowledge of tennis * Knowledge of POS(point of sale), court reserve systems, and cash register experience helpful. Physical Requirements/Environment: Frequently requires standing, walking, handling, reaching, listening and talking to the general public and co-workers, reading, writing, use of a multi-line telephone, electronic cash register, and working in an air-conditioned area. Occasionally requires intermittent sitting, bending, twisting, stooping and kneeling, use of a stringing machine, use of a roll drier, pushing/pulling of 11-20 lbs., carrying/lifting of 21-50 lbs., and exposure to heat, sunlight, dust, dirt, wind, tennis balls in play, wet and other environmental conditions associated with working outdoors in Hawaii. Works inside approximately 4 – 10 hours per day, outside ½ hour to an hour per day. Tools, Equipment, and Materials: Computerized point-of-sales register, calculator, multi-line telephone, bank card machine, fax machine, court time reservation sheets, writing instruments, cleaning supplies, roll drier, vacuum cleaner and tennis racquet stringing equipment, etc.

Responsibilities

Manage daily operations of the tennis shop, including sales, court reservations, and providing premium customer service to guests. Maintain the facility by cleaning the shop and courts and ensuring racquets are strung competently.
