Description

The Danish Pioneer Center for Landscape Research in Sustainable Agricultural Futures, Land-CRAFT, based at the Department of Agroecology, Aarhus University, Denmark, is looking for a researcher with proficiency in environmental impact modelling, GHG inventories, MRV systems for agricultural sources, and land management scenarios. The position is offered as either a Tenure Track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor depending on the qualification of the applicant. You must indicate in your application, if you apply for the Tenure Track Assistant Professorship, the Associate Professorship, or both. The position is a full-time position and starts 1 February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Food security, climate change and loss of biodiversity represent three of today’s major societal challenges. Finding solutions requires studies that extend across multiple spatial and temporal scales. Land-CRAFT (https://land-craft.dk/), established in 2022, brings together experts on climate impact research and landscape analyses with backgrounds in biogeochemistry, agronomy, biology, geography, and social sciences from Aarhus and Copenhagen Universities, as well as our international partners: Colorado State University/NREL and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology/IMK-IFU. Digital technologies, including biogeochemical modelling and remote sensing, as well as interactions with stakeholders, are key components of Land-CRAFT.
The ideal candidate has experience in the use and application of biogeochemical models at large scales and a vision of how the increasing availability of Earth Observation information can be used to initialize, drive or complement routines in biogeochemical models and to calculate field to regional to global inventories of soil GHG fluxes or fluxes of other environmentally relevant substances. The candidate will also work on developing MRV frameworks and future sustainable agricultural production pathways under climate change conditions.
We expect that you will be an important part of the research environment and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment.
