The Finance (FNCE) Area at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Quantum Finance. The appointment start date is July 1, 2026.
We are seeking candidates whose research focuses on FinTech and emerging technologies in financial markets, and who demonstrate a strong interest in engaging with quantum research. While prior work in quantum technologies is not required, the successful candidate should show clear potential and willingness to contribute to a growing stream of research in Quantum Finance. This includes exploring how quantum computing, algorithms, cryptography, and sensing can be applied to financial markets, in alignment with the University of Calgary’s Quantum City initiative.

The Haskayne School of Business is home to the Decentralized Finance Laboratory, a hub for FinTech research, education, and experiential learning. The Lab serves as a platform connecting researchers and students with the financial services industry, policymakers, and entrepreneurs. Haskayne is emerging as one of North America’s leading business schools specializing in FinTech, with a distinctive focus on digital platforms, blockchain, and central bank digital currencies. The addition of faculty with expertise in quantum technologies will further enhance our FinTech research group and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
