Job Description

Directs and coordinates activities of operations in the terminal to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities and personnel by performing the following duties:

  • Loading, unloading and delivering freight.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork and phone calls.
  • Ensuring all trucks and equipment are in good operating condition.
  • Understand customers’ needs, service those needs, and maintain and develop positive business relationships with customers.
  • Coordinating and scheduling employee resources.
  • Directly supervises few employees in the terminal.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work. Duties also include performing performance appraisals, rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Support, enforce and model all health, safety & environmental rules, policies, procedures and government regulatory standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
-

Must have Class 1/AZ drivers licence with two years of experience

  • Experience in a managerial/supervisory roll
  • Dock/freight handling experience
  • Must be physically fit
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong customer service skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Superior time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to supervise and manage several tasks and/or employees at once to achieve organizational objectives
  • Computer literate; working knowledge of Microsoft suite and email.
  • Financial Literacy – ability to complete cost analysis/cost reduction
  • Highly developed problem solving and decision making skills
