Description The Terminal Manager ensures that drivers operate safely and in compliance with all Modern procedures and government regulations. The primary objects include hiring, training, developing, monitoring, motivating, mentoring, coaching and scheduling drivers. Additionally, the Terminal Manager exceeds all customers’ expectations while managing truck and trailer maintenance effectively and utilizing all equipment to its fullest capacity. Principle Roles & Responsibilities: Keep safety awareness at the forefront of all we do at Modern Transportation Review Understand and Manage Modern Transportations Supervisors Policies and Procedures to meet and exceed expectations. Review Understand and Manage Modern Transportations Drivers Policies and Procedures to meet and exceed expectations. Supervise and Mentor drivers Plan daily schedule in accordance with customer needs within safety guidelines Establish relationship with customer and maintain daily contact Oversee dispatching system through use of TMW Establish regular effective means of communication with drivers Ensure that BOLs are correct to maintain accurate payroll/billing Review and approve weekly payroll through TMW and add pay sheets Ensure drivers are paid accurately, timely and fairly Provide daily/weekly terminal performance report metrics with use of Microsoft Excel Complete mileage reports for each tractor on a weekly basis Monitor driver performance through use of electronic systems: TMW, Mavin, and Lytx Ensure that drivers are following federal, state, and local regulations including HOS Ensure that all drivers comply with PPE requirements and dress code Complete and document required safety training Conduct quarterly safety meetings Enforce culture of safety in all daily activities Communicate new policies/changes in policies to drivers Review driver performance consistently to establish areas for improvement Conduct driver ride-alongs Complete daily yard checks/equipment inspections Complete all collision and injury reports accurately and timely Evaluate incidents and create preventative action plans Proactively address safety concerns Manage truck and trailer maintenance costs Ensure drivers do proper pre- and post-trip inspections daily Establish effective preventative maintenance schedule Create network to handle roadside breakdowns Ensure effective utilization of equipment Establish relationship with leasing companies and repair vendors Reviews all POs carefully before approving Follow driver hiring process and guidelines to hire new driver Complete thorough new hire training Coordinate with HR department on personnel issues including hires and terminations Drive company initiatives to improve productivity and efficiencies Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance Other duties as assigned. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time Requirements Ability to multitask Ability to follow up on assigned tasks to insure completeness Ability to set clear expectations for direct reports Effective and professional verbal and written communication Strong organizational skills Problem solving abilities Personal accountability Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Five years dry bulk transportation experience Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations Solid understanding and knowledge of Supply Chain Ability to plan and manage projects and processes as well as allocate resources, monitor progress, and establish budget Direct report management experience (minimum of 5 direct reports) Valid driver’s license for local travel Flexibility to work 55+ hours per week including nights and weekends Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Management, Business, or related field (preferred but not required) Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel Travel Requirements: Minimal, but some travel may be required for training and education purposes Salary Range : $90,000 - $110,000
