Seaspan Ferries Terminal Operations is made up of multiple teams; a diverse group who collaborate and deliver smooth and seamless operations while transporting commercial shipments between the mainland and island terminals. Safety is at the core of what we do; we innovate, have fun, and invest in our people. With increasing demand to expand our operations and align an operating model to reflect this growth we are looking for the right candidate to join this energetic team. We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Terminal Operations Lead for the terminals on the Lower Mainland. Under the direction of the Manager, Terminal Operations, the successful candidate will play a key role in decision-making and delivering results within the 24/7 daily operations of our mainland terminals.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 7700 Hopcott Road, Delta. Shift work and weekend work may be required to support the 24/7 operations.

Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day planning of resources, for all terminal operational teams.
  • Monitoring daily terminal and vessel activities ensuring all customer related issues are resolved in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensures work instructions are current, teams are compliant with mandatory training for the job and certifications are tracked.
  • Schedules and attends safety meetings, all terminal audits are completed and recorded for audit compliance.
  • Solid understanding of the safety management system, ensuring all incidents are recorded, investigated and root causes are continually improved.
  • Using strong communication skills to communicate updates, changes, irregular operations, or incidents involving customers on non-compliance, spills, damage claims.
  • Ensure operational teams are well versed with company’s emergency response plans, and lead and support teams during an event.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the teams, while monitoring employee productivity.
  • Use Intelex or other methods to track employee performance and have conversations with empathy.
  • Monitors the day-to-day operating expenses for terminal operations, contributes to budget planning by identifying facility upgrades for continued success of the business unit.
  • Plans and participate in event planning for the business unit teams.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
