Description
Terminal Procurement Manager Being part of the Maersk Procurement team in Rotterdam you will support and independently execute end-to-end sourcing projects in a portfolio of terminals. This includes activities from developing ‘Total Value of Ownership’ models to understanding cost structures and value drivers to building the ideal negotiation strategy and execute accordingly. You will also be responsible for creating an area strategy for your own portfolio, and to drive supplier relationship management to extract additional value out of the co-operation and enable mutual growth with our business partners. Cooperating with a broad variety of stakeholders is part of the daily job; our suppliers, stakeholders in center functions and our colleagues in the areas. In addition, you will be part of the global Asset Strategy and Strategic Partnerships team which consists of a large family of highly competent procurement professionals, where we look for best practices, align supplier strategies and where you have an opportunity to be involved in projects with a global scope. The role will therefore be instrumental in developing structure, planning and on-time execution through end-to-end category management. You will be involved to support and lead various European procurement initiatives. In order to support Maersk’s vision of enabling a true end to end service offering to our customers, you also link our LnS (logistics and services) offerings and business potential to your portfolio of suppliers, to explore mutual growth. In addition to end-to-end sourcing activities, you also seek to make use of the latest digital tools and processes to reduce transactional work, and drive efficiencies. This all to enable we can function as business partners and facilitate growth together with our suppliers. The role reports directly to the Head of Terminal Procurement (based in Rotterdam). Key Responsibilities Manages procurement projects, as per the Six Souring Steps across a range of Terminals in Europe. Develop a portfolio strategy which is aligned with the other Ocean and LnS category strategies and our Area business plans. Manage negotiations for contracts, tariffs and Service Level Agreements within your scope. Act as an escalation point internally towards suppliers (and vice versa) Cooperating closely with colleagues and stakeholders in TBM (Transported by Maersk Europe), Network & Market teams, our Areas, Centre Procurement, and other Regional Procurement teams. Solves challenges based on accurate identification of underlying factors/causes and is aware of the impact of proposed solutions outside their own immediate area. Accountable for establishing and developing procurement frameworks and processes including contracting strategies through to execution including complete contracts lifecycle management. Perform supplier market analysis and organise market intelligence for suppliers in scope and benchmark Maersk Business costs with competition and ensure we are cost competitive. Support LnS Growth Initiatives Approach suppliers for cost waiver request due to unforeseen events. Upon request, engage in cross functional projects. What are we looking for Demonstrated relevant working experience in Procurement or commercial roles Has a good understanding of the industry and proven experience within Ocean Categories (either in commercial, procurement or operations) Fluent in English (written and verbal), other languages are a plus Excellent stakeholder management Good listener, is interested in our suppliers and (internal) customers, and looks for mutual growth and value creation Analytical and data driven, but consistently comes up with new, innovative and/or creative solutions. Energetic, engaging and pro-active personality with a high drive for results Can work very independently, in ambiguous environments and is a self-starter Can define a portfolio strategy for scope of work, as well as define impact on other categories and commercial strategies.
