KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist Terminal Management in pursuit of bp’s safety objectives by cultivating a strong speak up and learning culture.
Lead, supervise and coordinate a team of operational staff and contractors to ensure they are working safely, efficiently and delivering maximum value.
Provide strong Safety Leadership and be visible in the field, consistently modelling the right behaviours.
Work within and help maintain a strong team environment to achieve the safe and efficient daily operations of the terminal.
Be a practical “hands-on” leader to deliver efficient and value-add outcomes.
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the integrity of operational safety barriers.
As a member of the Emergency Response Team act as on-scene commander and/or other such designated roles.
Responsible for safe work execution by working closely with the Control of Work team and achieving Issuing Authority accreditation to ensure that the control of work process is adhered to and process risks are managed.
Maintain the terminal in a safe & reliable operational state when carrying out Terminal Operator duties and inspections in accordance with internal procedures as well as national and local statutory requirements.
Working with Contractors to ensure their adherence to terminal operating rules, expectations and regulations.
Monitor and maintain site integrity to ensure site is operating and maintained in a safe and reliable manner through the identification of hazards / risks and implement controls.
Be able to cover a variety of operational roles as required within the terminal structure. The role requires someone who can perform across operational positions and be hands on when required. These roles will include but not limited to, DCS Operator, Shipping Operator, Control of Work Issuing authority.
Complete administration tasks as required to assist in maintaining the company standards, policies and procedures i.e. update operating procedures, adhere to the abnormal situation management process, perform risk assessments, create maintenance work orders. etc.
Work with the Terminal Movements Specialists and Customer Quality Support Advisor to best manage customer product stock levels & quality and ensure continuity of product supply.
Work with the Control of Works and Facilities teams to ensure maintenance activities are safely conducted with attention to SIM Ops including Isolations, Return to service of equipment, etc.
Ability to work full-time shift for both day and night shift rosters.
Pipeline or Tankship Product Movement Accountabilities: where the role is directly engaged in controlling product movement by pipeline or tankships, ensure that the team have the required competencies to perform the tasks and relevant procedures are followed.
Be self-motivated to work flexibly to assist where needed to deliver efficient and cost-effective terminal operations.
Accountable for stopping work if conditions of the permit are not followed or if an unsafe situation arises.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in fixed plant processing/oil movements (oil and gas preferable).
Understanding and demonstrated experience with control of work and permit systems, and supervising contractors performing field work.
Experience in risk management and operating in a high-risk environment, demonstrating troubleshooting capability.
Evidence of valuing and role modelling a speak up, safety culture and caring for others.
Advocate for personnel and process safety leadership and execution, setting clear safety expectations for both bp & contractor teams.
An experienced communicator - able to communicate with positive personal impact and influence
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply operational and HSSEQ policies & procedures and Engineering drawings
IT Skills – ability to use Email, MS Word & Excel.
Flexible enough to adapt to various job roles
Strong team working skills and performance orientation
Control system operation experience
Must be able to successfully complete the mandatory annual firefighting skills training and medical assessment.
Capability to be self-directed and self-organised.
Experience in the development or peer checking of operating procedures and documents.
Willing to work in a Sportsman’s Roaster.
Operations knowledge across shipping, pipeline transfers, marine bunkering, tank farm operations and gantry facilities with a practical hands-on approach and management of associated hazards.
