Description This is a full-time, direct placement role at B & L Testing And Balancing. B&L Testing and Balancing is now accepting applications for entry level technicians who are motivated and interested in a career that checks all the boxes! Benefits begin after three months of employment and include: • Eligibility to participate in the company group health, vision, and dental insurance plans • Eligibility to participate in the company IRA program • Two weeks (10 days or 80 hours) paid vacation time, on an accrual basis, annually • Five days (or 40 hours) Personal / Sick PTO, annually • Company-provided laptop computer • Company-provided tool set Role: TAB technicians ensure that air and hydronic systems are operating as per design and meet specifications outlined by the design professional of record and project documents. With the right academic background, and after being with us for one year, a technician can seek certification to enhance not only their capabilities but also their salary by getting certified as a CT or CP with NEBB. Under our senior staff members, incoming technicians will become familiarized with theoretical and practical aspects of HVAC fluid flow systems. Job Responsibilities: • Proactively participate in our technician training program to become familiar with technical, cultural and customer satisfaction aspects of our firm • Assess mechanical systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications, and troubleshoot problematic systems • Test the performance of air and hydronic systems, using company-provided tools and test equipment, such as Pitot tubes, Manometers, Anemometers, Velometers, Tachometers, Psychrometers, and Thermometers, to isolate problems and determine necessary adjustments. • Prepare for each project by conducting a system design review and assembling of the required reporting documents for delivery to the end-user(s) • Maintain logs of daily activities and prepare punch lists for our clients outlining any issues discovered that need rectification • The use of ladders is required to complete the task of Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing of air and hydronic systems. All employees must possess the ability to safely exercise ladder usage. Requirements Knowledge: • Mathematical proficiency is a necessity for completing basic and advanced equations associated with Air and Hydronic balancing • Learn and understand the operational characteristics and capabilities of all required test equipment prior to project commencement • Continuously educate oneself to become capable of performing assigned tasks without direct, full-time supervision • Learn and understand the design intent of each given system associated with a project prior to project commencement • Ability to review and understand mechanical, plumbing, drawings, specifications, submittals and control schematics • Ability to understand and analyze mechanical HVAC systems for determining issues and determining basic recommendations for issue resolution(s). Physical Requirements: • Must be able to lift, move, and carry equipment (up to 50 pounds) • Must be able to work at heights • Must have general and practical knowledge of hand and power tools Educational/Experience Requirements: • (Preferred but not required) B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related fields • Basic Microsoft Excel software knowledge • (Preferred but not required) A minimum of one-year experience in the TAB industry or a related field
