He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role We are seeking a Test Automation Engineer (contract until 26 September) to support the testing requirements of the DoneSafe project within Watercare Digital. Reporting to the Test Manager, this role is responsible for executing both manual and automated testing activities, ensuring quality outcomes that align with Watercare’s established testing practices. You will work closely with delivery teams, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure the DoneSafe solution is thoroughly and efficiently tested. While the role requires strong technical testing capability, it is not responsible for mentoring others or evolving wider organisational testing practices. Instead, your focus will be on effectively delivering the testing needs of the project. Key Responsibilities Plan, design, and execute manual and automated test cases to support the DoneSafe project. Ensure adherence to Watercare’s testing standards, processes, and ways of working. Develop tests across UI, API, integration, or data layers as required by the project. Raise, track, and retest defects to ensure timely resolution and quality outcomes. Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and technical teams to clarify requirements and define acceptance criteria. Contribute to the project’s test strategy and test coverage planning. Participate in end‑to‑end, system integration, and regression testing cycles. Communicate testing progress, risks, and issues clearly and proactively. (Highly desirable) Bring knowledge or experience working with DoneSafe or other Health, Safety & Wellness systems. ISTQB Agile Tester certification (or equivalent). Strong experience in both manual testing and test automation, including hands‑on use of Playwright with TypeScript. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to break complex work into clear, testable tasks. A proactive, collaborative mindset with a focus on delivering quality and working well within agile squads.
