Internships at Zoox are reserved for those who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, activities outside their course work, aptitude, curiosity, and a passion for Zoox's mission. As a Test Automation or QA Systems Intern, you may be assigned to one of the following teams: On the Autonomy Systems Test team, you will oversee the development of extensive test plans, develop standardized simulated test design tooling processes to execute many different scenarios, and put together triage pipelines for analyzing issues seen during offline and on-vehicle testing. The work might include working on developer efficiency projects in the software test execution, kickoff, maintenance, and reporting processes and improving the tooling of our Teleplan testing systems. On the AI system integration for automation team, you will develop and prototype LLM-powered automation workflows which can be embedded into the QA Engineering processes to increase efficiency and automation. You’ll work with the team to build, test, and deploy automation solutions using modern AI technologies. You will help to prototype and scale to production agent-based workflows integrating LLMs and Tool APIs into current application. On the Product Software Quality Assurance team, your role will focus on building scalable integration automation frameworks and enhancing existing frameworks for automated testing across our full stack of tools and vehicle software. You will design and implement component and integration automation infrastructure, utilizing the latest in AI technology and machine learning paired with our cutting edge vehicle simulations to ensure comprehensive test coverage and reduce manual testing efforts. By prioritizing automation for repetitive tasks, developing robust regression suites, and focusing on edge cases and high-stress scenarios, you will ensure the end-to-end reliability of ride service software. \n Requirements: Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., Ph.D., or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program Must be returning to school to continue your education upon completing this internship Good academic standing Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026. At least one previous industry internship, co-op, or project completed in a relevant area Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California for the duration of the internship Interns at Zoox may not use any proprietary information they are working on as part of their thesis, any published work with their university, or to be distributed to anyone outside of Zoox Qualifications (It’s helpful if you meet a majority of the following qualifications, but it isn’t a requirement): Experience with software development languages, e.g. Python, C++, etc. Familiarity with modern software development methodologies and tools (Agile, Git, unit testing, CI, etc) Understanding of hardware testing and verification methods Working knowledge of navigating through and using a Linux environment through CLI Experience using test automation frameworks, such as PyTest or Robot Framework Bonus Qualifications: Familiarity with basic mechanical, electrical, and optical test procedures Prior experience working with communications protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, or TCP/IP Experience with Git, Jira, Reviewable, Bamboo, Polarion, or TestRail Experience using static analysis tools and formatters, such as PyLint and Black Experience building automation scripts using LLM models, agents and tool calls Understanding of vector databases, cloud platforms, RAG database deployment and containerization \n Compensation: The monthly salary range for this position is $5,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, and a housing stipend (relocation assistance will be offered based on eligibility).
